We cracked open the 16 pc Walnut/Cherry/PADAUK/Maple DIY Cutting Board Wood Kit (3/4" x 2" x 16") with one question in mind: is it actually shop-ready, or just pretty packaging? Right away, the mix of species feels like a palette—dark walnut for depth, cherry for warmth, maple for clean contrast, and that bold strip of padauk that practically demands a feature slot. The dimensions are straightforward, but they also set clear expectations: this kit is built for laminations, patterns, and experimentation rather than oversized butcher blocks. As we dry-fit the strips on the bench, we could already see a few board layouts worth pursuing—assuming the milling and consistency hold up under glue and clamps.

WINGYZ Learning Stool Review: Right for Our Home Shop?

In our search for a helper stool that wouldn’t turn the kitchen into a balancing act, the WINGYZ Toddler Tower caught our eye. The natural wood frame feels sturdy, and the anti-tip design gives us a little more confidence when tiny hands reach for the counter. We especially like the three-height adjustable platform, which makes it easier to keep up with a fast-growing toddler (18 months through 6 years is an ambitious promise, but it’s a welcome one). The sliding door access adds a playful, “secret clubhouse” touch while helping with safer step-in, step-out routines. At around 20 pounds, it’s portable enough for us to move from kitchen to sink, without feeling flimsy.

Right out of the box, the sheets feel clean and craft-ready—unfinished, smooth enough for engraving, and forgiving when we’re prototyping ornaments, layered signs, or small box panels. On our laser cutter, the basswood takes crisp lines and readable detail, especially on lighter engravings where grain can make or break a design. In our hands, though, the foldable triangle and ramps started to look suspiciously like an oversized “shop jig” for testing stability, hinge play, and repeated setup tear-down cycles. The joints feel reassuringly solid, and the modularity invites tinkering—just not the kind that involves clamps and sawdust. So is it worth it? As a play set, it’s compelling. As a jig? Surprisingly educational.

When we opened the ROBOTIME 7-Pack double-sided colored plywood sheets, the first thing we noticed was the palette—solid, roller-coated color on both faces, already doing half the design work for us. Each 12 x 16 inch, 1/8 inch (3mm) sheet feels sized for real projects, not just tests: ornaments, layered signage, small boxes, and clean-edged silhouettes. In our laser cutter trials, the surfaces stayed vibrant and consistent, which made engraving and cut lines pop without extra painting steps. After unboxing the Sasylvia Christmas Fence Decorations set (30 pieces, 16’’ high), we immediately saw the appeal for our shop’s holiday corner: classic wooden picket silhouettes, scaled perfectly to “frame” a Christmas tree without swallowing the whole display. We tested a quick semicircle setup on a rug and then on a bare floor, and the sections felt light enough to reposition yet substantial enough to read as décor, not craft scraps. The real question for us was function—could it gently discourage curious pets or wandering hands? It won’t replace a true gate, but it does create a clear visual boundary. As a seasonal staging tool, it’s charming, simple, and surprisingly photogenic.
