We didn’t expect a Montessori climbing frame to spark a workshop debate, but the Pikler Triangle Set – 10 in 1 Foldable Indoor Climbing Toy did exactly that. On paper, it’s a kid-friendly jungle gym: extra-large wooden pieces, eco-friendly finish, a yoga mat and cushion for softer landings, and enough configurations to keep ages 3+ busy on rainy days. In our hands, though, the foldable triangle and ramps started to look suspiciously like an oversized “shop jig” for testing stability, hinge play, and repeated setup tear-down cycles. The joints feel reassuringly solid, and the modularity invites tinkering—just not the kind that involves clamps and sawdust. So is it worth it? As a play set, it’s compelling. As a jig? Surprisingly educational.
