Right out of the case, it promises the kind of control we crave in tight spaces-compact in the hand, yet confidently built. The variable-speed dial invites experimentation, from softwoods that scorch easily to harder stock that demands steadier pacing. But specs don’t always translate to real-world comfort, and a “max horsepower” badge doesn’t guarantee smooth cuts, low vibration, or fuss-free adjustments. When we first rolled the Mendini By Cecilio 16 Inch Drum Set (3-piece) into our workspace, we had to laugh at the irony: our “Mendini 16” Drum Sander Review” suddenly involved a metallic red junior drum kit. Still, shop life is full of surprises-and this tiny set earns its bench space in unexpected ways. The 16" bass drum feels compact but confident, and the punchy, beginner-friendly setup makes it easy for us to test room acoustics, break in ear protection, or keep younger visitors entertained while we work. Hardware and tone won’t rival pro rigs, but for the price and purpose, it’s a cheerful, functional addition. Not a sander-yet it might smooth our day.

We brought the AVID POWER 6.5 Amp (1.25 HP) Compact Router into our shop looking for a small router that could still feel grown-up at the bench. Right away, the fixed base and 65mm body made it easy to control one-handed, especially when trimming plywood edges and easing corners on solid stock. The six variable speeds gave us room to match RPM to different bit sizes, and the included trim router bits were handy for quick setup without rummaging through drawers. We also appreciated the edge guide and roller guide for repeatable passes, while the dust hood helped keep the chaos down-though not completely gone. After a few projects, we’re asking: is this the budget-friendly workhorse our workflow needs?

In our search for craft supplies that don’t fight back, we landed on the Fuyit Unfinished Wood Pieces (50 pcs, 4 x 4 inches)—a tidy stack of blank squares that invites ideas instead of instructions. Out of the box, the boards feel naturally simple: smooth enough for painting and staining, yet raw enough to keep that handmade charm. We tried them as mini coasters, Scrabble-style tiles, and quick décor tags, and the uniform size made planning layouts surprisingly painless. The unfinished surface takes color well, though we’ll still reach for a light sanding when we want sharper edges or a cleaner finish. For us, they’re less a “product” and more a flexible canvas—ready when inspiration hits.
