We brought the AVID POWER 6.5 Amp (1.25 HP) Compact Router into our shop looking for a small router that could still feel grown-up at the bench. Right away, the fixed base and 65mm body made it easy to control one-handed, especially when trimming plywood edges and easing corners on solid stock. The six variable speeds gave us room to match RPM to different bit sizes, and the included trim router bits were handy for quick setup without rummaging through drawers. We also appreciated the edge guide and roller guide for repeatable passes, while the dust hood helped keep the chaos down-though not completely gone. After a few projects, we’re asking: is this the budget-friendly workhorse our workflow needs?
