Woodpeckers Birch Plywood Review: Right for Our Shop?

We’ve been hunting for a reliable 1/8-inch sheet good that won’t turn our laser and CNC jobs into a warped, splintery mess, and Woodpeckers’ 3 mm Baltic birch plywood caught our eye. This box of 45 (12 x 12) B/BB grade sheets promises the clean faces we want for signage and the toughness we need for small parts-especially compared to softer basswood. In our shop, the appeal is obvious: consistent sizing for repeatable jigs, sturdy plies that feel less “spongy” under engraving pressure, and a surface that takes wood burning with a crisp edge. Still, we’ll be watching for glue lines, core voids, and any variability across the stack.

Each panel arrives in a practical 12 x 16-inch size, and at 1/8 inch (3mm) thick, it hits that sweet spot for architectural models, layered signage, and quick prototype parts. The unfinished maple surface looks clean and bright—great for wood burning details and for stains when we want a warmer finish. What we’re watching closely in our shop is consistency: flatness, glue lines, and how evenly the sheets cut at different speeds. On first impressions, these boards feel like a solid, versatile staple for DIY craft runs.

ROBOTIME Plywood Sheets Review: Right Laser Wood?

When we opened the ROBOTIME 7-Pack double-sided colored plywood sheets, the first thing we noticed was the palette—solid, roller-coated color on both faces, already doing half the design work for us. Each 12 x 16 inch, 1/8 inch (3mm) sheet feels sized for real projects, not just tests: ornaments, layered signage, small boxes, and clean-edged silhouettes. In our laser cutter trials, the surfaces stayed vibrant and consistent, which made engraving and cut lines pop without extra painting steps. We also appreciated the assortment pack for quick prototyping—switching colors changes the mood of the same pattern instantly. Still, we kept an eye on smoke marks and masking needs, because colored coatings can behave differently than raw birch.
