In our shop, staplers earn their keep fast—or they get benched. The Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Cordless Compression Drive 3/8 in. Crown Stapler (Tool Only) P317 arrived with a promise we couldn’t ignore: cordless convenience without dragging an air hose across a half-finished cabinet. We put it to work on plywood backs, light trim, and quick upholstery fixes, watching for the usual deal-breakers—misfires, inconsistent depth, and fatigue after a long run. The compression drive action feels more controlled than we expected, and the 3/8 in. crown staples hit a sweet spot for everyday fastening. Still, “tool only” means we judged it as part of the ONE+ ecosystem we already own.
