We picked up the Bosch GKF125CEK Colt 1.25 HP (Max) Variable-Speed Palm Router Kit looking for a palm router that could keep up with our weekend cabinetry and edge-detail projects without feeling like overkill. Right out of the case, it promises the kind of control we crave in tight spaces-compact in the hand, yet confidently built. The variable-speed dial invites experimentation, from softwoods that scorch easily to harder stock that demands steadier pacing. But specs don’t always translate to real-world comfort, and a “max horsepower” badge doesn’t guarantee smooth cuts, low vibration, or fuss-free adjustments. In this review, we’ll dig into how it actually handles, what we loved, what tested our patience, and whether it earns a permanent spot on our bench.
