Huanyu Hot Knife Foam Cutter Review: Right for Us?

We didn’t expect a foam cutter to feel like a “power tool,” but the Huanyu Hot Knife Foam Cutter (200W) comes close. With air-cooled heat and a claimed 500℃ output, it warms up fast and glides through stubborn materials we usually fight—EPP and EPS for props, EVA and sponge for padding, even KT board for quick mockups. The included 6” and 8” straight blades give us two distinct personalities: the shorter blade for tighter control, the longer one for confident, sweeping cuts. It’s not a delicate craft pen, and it rewards patience—steady hands, slow passes, and a clear workspace. Still, for clean edges and less crumbling mess, it’s a compelling upgrade.

XMZ-391-A Metal Cutting Die Kit Review: Shop Fit?

We decided to put the XMZ-391-A Leopard Print Background Board Die Cuts kit through a real craft-table trial, focusing on what matters when we’re building cards, photo frames, and scrapbook spreads on a tight timeline. The leopard print background board brings instant texture and attitude, while the metal cutting dies feel geared toward clean edges and repeatable results—especially helpful for paper embossing and layered designs. We also appreciated the included storage pockets, which kept the smaller templates from vanishing into our “miscellaneous” drawer. That said, pattern-heavy dies can be a love-it-or-leave-it choice, and we wanted to see whether the look stays versatile beyond a single theme. Here’s how the set performed in our everyday DIY workflow.

2pcs PVC Engraving Plate Cutting Mat Review: Our Shop?

We’ve been looking for a no-fuss surface that can travel from our studio table to a weekend workshop, and this 2pcs PVC Engraving Plate Cutting Mat kit fits that role nicely. The plates feel lightweight yet steady enough for beginner carving and simple printmaking practice, giving us a dedicated “safe zone” for lino-style cuts, stamps, and small creative experiments. We like having two mats on hand—one for clean layouts, one for messier trials—without adding bulk to our bag. The PVC surface wipes down quickly, which keeps our process moving when we’re switching inks, tools, or ideas. In our shop workflow, it’s less about perfection and more about dependable prep.

3D Wooden Puzzle Kit Review: Right Hobby Tool for Us?

We picked up the “3D Wooden Puzzles for Adults” kit expecting a calm, hands-on build—and ended up with something that feels half craft project, half conversation piece. The laser-cut pieces fit together with satisfying precision, and the step-by-step assembly has that slow-burn reward we look for in a weekend hobby. What surprised us most was the rubber band “gun” model: it’s more of a clever mechanical sculpture than a gimmick, adding motion and function to the finished build. Still, patience matters; a few tight joins and delicate parts made us slow down and rethink our approach. As a gift, it lands in a sweet spot—creative, practical, and just challenging enough to feel earned.

12×12 Trim & Score Board Review: Right for Our Shop?

12×12 Trim & Score Board Review: Right for Our Shop?

We’ve tried plenty of cutters that promise clean edges and crisp folds, but our shop lives or dies by consistency. The 12 x 12 Inch Paper Trimmer and Scoring Board aims to be a true multitasker—trim on one track, score on another, and keep projects moving without swapping tools every five minutes. With two included blades (cutting and scoring), it’s clearly designed for cardmaking, envelopes, book covers, and those gift-box prototypes we always seem to be testing. What caught our attention is the emphasis on precision: measured guides, a stable base, and the kind of straight, repeatable lines that make DIY look professional. In this review, we’ll see if it actually speeds up our workflow—or just adds another gadget to the drawer.
