Grey Elm Boards Review: Right Lumber for Our Shop?
We brought the Grey Elm Boards (3/4" thick, 2" wide, 12" long-4 pack) into our shop with one question in mind: would they feel like “real lumber” or just convenient stock? Out of the box, the grain reads clean and understated, with that cool grey tone that can either stand on its own or disappear nicely under stain. The dimensions are small, but purposeful-ideal for test joints, quick jigs, accent trims, and weekend prototypes when we don’t want to break down a full board. We also appreciated the consistency across the pack, which makes repeatable cuts less of a guessing game. Still, we wanted to see how they’d behave under sanding, drilling, and glue.
