AVID POWER Angle Grinder Review: Right for Our Shop?

We’ve been putting the AVID POWER 7.5-Amp 4-1/2 inch angle grinder through the kind of real-world jobs that actually pile up in our shop: trimming stubborn bolts, smoothing welds, knocking rust off old brackets, and polishing edges before paint. Out of the box, it feels ready to work—especially with the included grinding and cutting wheels, plus the flap disc for quick blending. The auxiliary handle gives us better control when we’re pushing harder, and the compact size helps when we’re wedged into tight corners. It’s not trying to be a boutique tool; it’s aiming for solid, practical performance. The big question for us is whether that balance holds up after repeated starts, long sessions, and messy metalwork.

DongCheng Angle Grinder Review: Right for Our Shop?

We brought the DongCheng 9.2 Amp 4-1/2" angle grinder into our shop looking for a compact corded workhorse that wouldn’t flinch at everyday metal tasks. On paper, the 11,800 RPM speed promises quick cuts and confident grinding, and the paddle switch feels like it was designed with real workflows in mind—easy to feather, easy to stop. We also appreciated the tool-free guard; swapping positions mid-job takes seconds instead of breaking our rhythm. The shockproof handle adds a layer of comfort when we’re leaning into weld cleanup or edge prep, though it’s still very much a “hold on and work” tool. In this review, we’ll see where it excels—and where it asks for compromise.
